I had planned to be back this week with my next Detour From Hell post, but I’m giving myself one more week. It’s been a mentally challenging week.
The grooming article is close, but it isn’t quite finished—and instead of forcing it just to stay on schedule, I’m choosing to leave it where it is for a few more days.
Right now, I’m spending time with family, getting away for a bit, and doing something I honestly haven’t been very good at lately: nothing….. or nothing important.
No catching up. No working ahead. No stressing over bills or the balance in the bank account. No feeling guilty because there’s something I could be doing.
Just relaxing until Monday, enjoying some time at the lake, and had a gourmet dinner and cake 😋💜 (Fri), then more lake time (Sat), and then video games and nothing that takes energy (Sun).
The lake pictures attached to this post are pretty much what I want life to look like for the next few days: peaceful, quiet, and completely unproductive. ❤️
Apparently, my birthday present to myself has turned into the present that keeps on giving. Justin keeps reminding me, “It’s your birthday week.”
Birthday week—or birthday month—was something we joked about in our 20s, but apparently we’re bringing it back. 🤷🏼♀️😂 And honestly, I’m going with it.
I worked my ass off this week, and later this month we’re going to try to sneak away for a quick weekend trip to celebrate both my birthday and our anniversary. And I’m allowing myself a few days where I don’t have to be productive every second of the day.
The blog schedule will simply move back a week, and I’ll be back with the grooming article next Sunday.
Sometimes healing and growth look like doing the work. And sometimes they look like letting yourself enjoy your life for a few days without turning every free moment into another responsibility.
I’m choosing the second one for one more week. ❤️
Thanks for reading. Until next week, keep healing, keep growing, and keep telling your truth.

*My gourmet bday dinner! Chicken cordon bleu over parmesean brocolli risotto and a white wine garlic sauce sauce…… and of course you can’t forget the bread! 💜 I am a lucky woman.
